Dr Helen Sweeting is an Addiction Medicine Specialist and sessional Consultant Doctor at Delmont Private Hospital. She has an interest in treating the full-range of substance use disorders and associated conditions, with facilitation and recovery where possible. Currently she is involved in both outpatient and inpatient consultations at Delmont Private Hospital.

Helen’s compassionate, non-judgemental approach focuses on developing a person’s insight into their use of substances by utilising a holistic, psychotherapeutic approach. Treatments may include inpatient treatment of substance withdrawal, use of pharmacotherapies to treat subtsance dependence and supportive therapy. These therapies aim to develop the individual's insights into their substance use, thereby increasing autonomy, independence, their capacity to control substance use and work towards recovery. Her treatment style is built upon integrity and trust through encouraging open communication in consultations with the aim to build trust in her patients. 

Dr Sweeting is locally trained, attaining her psychiatric qualifications from the University of Melbourne and the University of Sydney. Today, her psychiatric experience spans over 20 years, establishing a collaborative approach to patient care based on social justice and equity.
