The name ACT stems from one of its core messages: Accept what is out of personal control. Commit to action that improves and enriches your life and maximise human potential for a rich, full and meaningful life.

These groups focus on teaching psychological skills to deal with painful thoughts and feelings effectively, so they have less impact and influence over a person’s life.

The aim is to help people clarify what is truly important and meaningful in a person’s life, through identifying values and understanding life’s difficulties. Then by combining knowledge, tools, mindfulness, acceptance skills and values, commit to new choices and directions in like to inspire and motivate behavioural change for better life.

Groups are conducted periodically, the following may be suitable for Anxiety, Depression and other conditions:

ACT FOR ANXIETY: This group addresses Anxiety, phobias and worry by integrating Mindfulness, Acceptance and Value-guided behaviour change. The aim is to allow people to stop struggling with anxiety and to start valued living.

ACT FOR CONFIDENCE: Utilises ACT to overcome fear and develop confidence for authentic, long-lasting change.

ACT FOR DEPRESSION: encourages the practice of mindfulness and acceptance skills to overcome the problem of avoidance and trying to control painful experiences with a commitment to action towards a meaningful life.

ACT FOR LIFE: utilises ACT skills and discussion on topics of life events and human concerns that assist participants in taking a different perspective on problems and improving well-being.

ACT FOR WORRY: is a 5 step model which integrates the traditional approach with ACT to address the cycle of chronic worry.  

INTRODUCTION TO ACT: This program will assist participants to learn about Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and how this therapy can help them in the early stages of recovery. ACT skills will be taught in a slow and steady pace, aiming to assist participants start the process towards gaining psychological flexibility.
