Anxiety Disorders can be generalised or linked to specific life situations or events. The following programs provide support and strategies to assist people to monitor symptoms, identify contributing behavioural or thought patterns. The groups focus on teaching skills to manage anxiety and assist with recovery so the person can return to living a fulfilled and connected lifestyle.

Groups are conducted periodically and are subject to change. The following may be suitable for Anxiety:

 

ACT FOR DEPRESSION & ANXIETY: This program takes encourages individuals to take a different perspective on their problems, their life and the way they live. The Acceptance & Commitment Therapy approach (ACT) fosters a willingness to accept difficult thoughts and feelings that cannot be changed or avoided. A readiness for change in direction and a commitment to choosing value-based actions for a meaningful life is required!

ASSERTION SKILLS: This skill based group focuses on gaining self-awareness and improving communication skills.

BEING MINDFUL: The focus is to provide a balance of learning about Mindfulness in daily life and developing formal meditation practice to increase resilience by protecting against stress. Mindfulness and loving-kindness come to life within this program by working towards cultivating well-being and wisdom. Based on the skills of concentration and mindfulness, meditation practice helps to release stress, find a sense of wholeness, strengthen relationships, increase resilience by protecting against stress and face our fears. 

CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) GROUPS FOR ANXIETY: The focus of these groups is to enable reduction of overall level, frequency and intensity of the anxiety symptoms, so that daily functioning is not impaired.

CBT FOR DEPRESSION & ANXIETY: The group focuses on teaching effective management skills for symptoms of Anxiety and Depression. The goal is to enable people to understand the effects and learn to reduce the overall level, frequency and intensity of the anxiety symptoms.

CBT FOR WORRY: The group is aimed at people with an Anxiety Disorder or anxiety features. It provides support and strategies for dealing with anxiety to increase quality of life. The emphasis is on developing changes in thinking and behaviour to increase coping.  

ENHANCING SELF ESTEEM: This group is based on the Six Pillars of Self Esteem. This has an interactive approach to life, by developing self-awareness and practicing new life skills. The focus is to build self-esteem and understand its value in one’s life.

LIFE SKILLS & STRATEGIES/BUILDING RESILIENCE: The focus is on supporting change and promoting self-understanding. Improving quality of life by physical well-being and overcoming social and emotional barriers.

LIFE STRATEGIES: This group is for people with a range of mental health issues. The focus is on self-understanding and learning how thinking and behaviour can influence recovery. It includes healthy living, education and stress management.

SOCIAL SKILLS: The focus is on gently improving function through exposure, self-management and skills training.

UNDERSTANDING EMOTIONS: This group uses a DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) approach. The focus is to learn how to manage emotions and distress with information, practical exercises and strategies to affect change.
