These groups offer skills and strategies to help people deal more effectively with stress. This is achieved by identifying specific stressors and taking positive action to minimise negative effects on physical and emotional wellbeing. The aim is for people to improve self-awareness, communication and foster health relationships.
Groups are conducted periodically and are subject to change. The following may be suitable for people with mental health issues:
ASSERTION: This is a supportive skills based group to assist people who have difficulty in asserting themselves or socialising. The aim is to provide an opportunity to gain self-awareness, discuss communication issues, learn communication strategies and practice skills in the group.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: The group allows people to explore current issues in social situations, providing assistance in beginning, maintaining and ending conversations. The group explores ways to expand their social life. Communication Skills is often held in conjunction with Assertion.
ENHANCING SELF ESTEEM: This group is based on the Six Pillars of Self Esteem. This aims to foster an interactive approach to life by developing self-awareness and practicing new skills. The focus is to build self-esteem and understand its value in one’s life.
GET ACTIVE: This group program is for people wanting to focus on improving their physical and mental health. Get Active is part of a full-day program.
GYM & SWIM: Physical engagement with staff accompanied visit to local gym and pool. The Gym & Swim program is part of a full day program.
HEALTHY RELATING: The group explores and deepens self-awareness to assist people in understanding their boundaries. It promotes self-expression and confidence in relationships.
MINDFULNESS BASED STRESS REDUCTION (MBSR): The focus is to cultivate mindfulness and enrich people’s lives. The aim is to teach people to access their own deep inner resources for learning, growing and healing.
SOLITUDE vs LONELINESS: This group focuses on defining loneliness and letting it go. This is achieved by learning how to transform loneliness into solitude and coping with the present. The aim is to provide a daily structure for people to create their own rituals and refine their communication skills.
STRESS SOLUTIONS: This group discusses stress and its effect on the body. The aim is to assist people in developing skills of self-awareness, build resilience and learn practical, effective coping skills to maintain stability during difficult times.
YOGA: The gentle yoga sessions are suitable for beginners and are led by our skilled Yoga facilitator. Yoga is part of a full day program.
